ABOUT YELLOW BRICK ROAD LIFE COACHING AND COACH KAREN

                                                           

Who would have guessed that in the space of nine months I would quit my job and leave my former career, put my Colorado house up for sale, move back to my home state, get married, and start a new career?  Certainly not me!  My own yellow brick road journey started long ago.  When a long time high school friend and my senior prom date called me a year and a half ago, we had not been in contact in a couple of decades.  Yet 37 years after that prom date, we decided to get married!  That decision and the other life changing decisions I made in that same short space of time resulted from a deep reevaluation of my life and determining what I truly want.  Providing life coaching service to those wanting to create changes in their lives is an outcome of these changes in my own life.  Yellow Brick Road Life Coaching brings together my professional skills and experiences with my personal values, abilities and experiences.  

Formal education, training and experience in school psychology dominated my life before these changes.   I specialized in providing immediate psychological support to school communities after a trauma, as part of crisis response.  I became a trainer in this area of expertise, teaching others throughout my school district and state so that school communities are better able to respond in times of crisis.  Working with families impacted by an autism spectrum disorder has been a passion of mine.  In addtion, I have had years of experience in supporting families of students who have special needs.  Providing support to families of children (ages 0 to 21) with chronic or acute illnesses has been another focus of my professional experience.

Which brings me back to life coaching.  I have completed Coach University's Core Essentials Training Program which is a step toward my goal of certifcation by the International Coaching Federation.  I cannot imagine a better place to be in my journey than partnering with people who want to create the life that they truly want to live.  My own life's journey has shown me that miraculous and wondrous surprises await, that making desired changes in one's life often takes dedicated work, and that seeking and finding support along the way is invaluable!
